<Two Weeks> 2013 Korean Drama Series Review

[Forget Wiki; The Real Plot Gist]

A low-life gangster discovers he has a daughter to save, only to then be framed for a murder he did not commit. 14 days is all he has to stay alive and away from his pursuers, and prove his innocence. Anybody who has a deadline more real than his? #stress

[Pros]

Plot: The action thriller comes as a breath of fresh air amongst the regular stream of romcoms. (Although “mandate of heaven” was an extremely close comparison. Still, it was pretty distinctive and held onto its fort too.) It did keep me at the edge of my seat many times, to the point I had to force myself not to fast-forward so that I can discover the events myself.

Characters: All had their own purpose. My favourites are Lee Jun Ki’s Tae San as a super relatable ordinary person and Kim So Yeon’s Jae Kyeong because she’s super dogged and tough.

Acting: No issues at all. Full of praises for Lee Jun Ki. He went down and dirty for the role, and straight into my heart.

OST: Favourites are Nell’s “Run” (bless that guitar riff), Yoo Seung Woo’s “Day You Come”

Ending: Open ending but in a good way.

Pacing: Pitch-perfect first half. Sluggish in the middle. A little too confident towards the end. That said, there were no fillers necessary, and thank god for that.

Predictable ending: Evokes curiosity in the first half, but fails to maintain an element of surprise in the second half. I mean, I don’t like my heart beating that fast. But it didn’t have to beat so slowly too. LOL.

Arresting the real criminals: Overly simplistic resolution for all the huff and puff, rough and tough along the way.

Relationships: Resulting from the complicated relationships, I would have expected our main characters to undergo some inner turmoil apart from Tae San. To mull over and perhaps, be that character twist the latter half needed.

Overall comments:

The drama did a good job affecting the viewers - whether the situations or the character emotions - I felt them all.

I just wished we spent more episodes digging, less running.

Overall rating: 7.5/10
